What does a sonographer do?

A sonographer is a certified medical imaging specialist who captures images of the body using ultrasound, which are then evaluated by a radiologist.

Why do I have to be fasting for an Abdominal Ultrasound?

Fasting is required to ensure high-quality imaging, as food in the digestive system can interfere with the clarity of the images.

Will there be Child Care available during my examination?

No, there is no child care provided on-site during examinations. Please arrange for another adult to attend with your children.

How long will the examination take?

Most ultrasound exams last between 15 and 30 minutes.

How long will it take for my doctor to get the results of my Ultrasound?

We aim to have reports ready for the ordering practitioner within two business days.

Will I get a Picture of my Baby?

Yes, we will provide you with a picture of your baby free of charge, although availability depends on the baby's position and age.

What information is required to schedule an appointment?

To book an appointment, please provide your name, date of birth, health card number, phone number, weight, the name and location of your referring physician, and the name of the exam indicated on your requisition.

Do I need to arrive early for my appointment?

Yes, please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment to complete the registration process.

What is required at the time of registration?

At registration, you need to present the requisition from your referring physician along with your health card number or insurance forms covering the exam cost. If no health coverage is available, payment can be made via cash, debit, MasterCard, or Visa at our Central location, while other locations accept cash only.

What is the procedure on picking up my images for a specialist appointment?

To request your images, please call 519-672-5270 with the patient's name, date of birth, health card number, exam, and date performed, as well as the specialist's name. A 48-hour notice is required.

Can I access my images online for my use or to share with my specialist?

Yes, through our partnership with PocketHealth, patients can access their medical imaging records online, share copies via email, burn their own CD, or copy files to a USB.

How long is my requisition valid for?

Requisitions are valid for a period of three months from their issuance by the referring physician.

Do you allow use of recording devices at LXA?

No, the use of cell phones, cameras, or recording devices is not permitted in the exam rooms.

What services do you offer?

We provide X-Ray, Ultrasound, Bone Mineral Density testing, Mammography, and Vascular Ultrasound.

Are walk-in X-Ray services available?

Yes, regular walk-in X-Ray services are available during our operating hours.

What are your business hours?

We are open Monday from 8 AM to 8 PM, Tuesday from 8 AM to 6 PM, Wednesday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday from 8 AM to 3 PM. We are closed on Sundays.
