What age should I start breast cancer screening exams?

According to the new American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines, all women, especially those who are Black and Ashkenazi Jewish, should have a risk assessment by age 25 to determine if they need to begin screening earlier than age 40. Annual screening is recommended starting at age 40 for those at average risk.

Who performs the actual exam?

One of our trained ultrasound technologists will guide you through the process and perform the exam.

Is there insurance reimbursement?

Reimbursement varies by insurance carrier using CPT Code 76641 (ultrasound, breast, unilateral to include axilla when performed, complete) charged for each breast.

What is the difference between SonoCine AWBUS and Mammography?

SonoCine is an ultrasound technology that uses no x-rays, has no painful compression, and can reliably detect 4-10mm breast cancers in all breast tissue types and women with implants. Mammography, an x-ray method, involves painful compression and often misses small, easily treatable cancers in women with dense breast tissue.

What is the difference between 2D, 3D, 4D, and HD ultrasound?

2D ultrasounds provide traditional black & white images for diagnostic purposes. 3D ultrasounds capture still images showing the baby's features. 4D ultrasounds allow you to see a real-time video of the baby. HD ultrasounds enhance the clarity of 3D/4D images for better quality.

What do I need to have to get a diagnostic ultrasound?

A written order from your OB/GYN or a referral from your Midwife is necessary to perform a diagnostic ultrasound.

Does my Gender Reveal or 3D/4D replace my ultrasound with my doctor?

No, the 3D/4D ultrasound is elective and does not substitute for the necessary diagnostic ultrasound performed by your doctor.

What do I need to do to prepare for my session?

Drink plenty of water (at least 64oz daily for 2 weeks) to improve image quality during your ultrasound.

What will determine the quality of the images?

Baby's position, tissue density, and amniotic fluid levels all influence image quality.

What kind of space do you need for the ultrasound?

A 2ft x 2ft area is needed for the ultrasound machine, along with access to an outlet.

What is your cancellation policy?
