Frequently asked questions
help_outline How should I prepare for my ultrasound/sonogram?
For an abdominal or aorta ultrasound, you should refrain from eating or drinking for at least 5 hours. For pelvic or obstetrical ultrasounds, drink 2 bottles of water one hour prior to your appointment and do not use the restroom until after the exam. Renal/kidney/bladder ultrasounds require drinking 16 oz. of water one hour before your appointment.
help_outline What should I wear during my mammography appointment?
Wear a comfortable, two-piece outfit and avoid using deodorant or powder on the day of your exam. Taking your last three mammograms (on disks) with you is recommended.
help_outline Is there anything I should avoid before my MRI?
Yes, please notify staff about any implanted devices and remove all metallic objects. For abdominal or pelvic MRIs, do not eat for 2 hours prior, and clear liquids are encouraged.
help_outline What are the dietary restrictions for a PET/CT examination?
Do not eat for 6 hours prior to the exam, but drink plenty of water. Your last meal should be low in carbs and sugars, and avoid any mints, gum, or candy.
