Yes, regular walk-in X-Ray services are available during our operating hours.

What are your business hours?

We are open Monday from 8 AM to 8 PM, Tuesday from 8 AM to 6 PM, Wednesday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday from 8 AM to 3 PM. We are closed on Sundays.

We no longer provide imaging records via CD. However, patients can access their imaging records through secure online access.

Do I need to make an appointment for my imaging test?

Yes, all procedures require an appointment, except for walk-in patients for X-Rays.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment online, call our office, or visit the clinic in person.

What happens if I have to cancel an appointment due to an emergency?

A 24-hour notice for cancellation is required to avoid charges.

What happens if I am late for an appointment?

We will try to accommodate you. If not possible, we will schedule the next earliest appointment.

Do I need a referral to get any medical imaging done?

Yes, except for mammograms for women over 50 who qualify under the Ontario Breast Screening Program.

Do I need a requisition from the Toronto Centre for Medical Imaging for tests?

No, as long as your doctor signs the requisition.

Do I have to pay for any of the medical imaging done?

No, if the tests are covered by OHIP. You must bring a valid health card.

What imaging services do you provide?

We offer general X-Rays, a range of ultrasound tests, mammograms, bone mineral density tests, and echocardiograms.

Do you have long waiting times for appointments?

No, our waiting time is generally less than one week for most elective tests.

How early should I arrive for my appointment?

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment.

Does your clinic bill my insurance company directly for private services?

No, payment is taken in advance for private services.

How do I get my doctor to refer me to your clinic?

Simply bring the requisition to our clinic.

How do I prepare for the tests?

Instruction on preparation will be given when booking, and details are available on requisitions.

What should I wear for an ultrasound appointment?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing as there are no specific preparations required for an x-ray scan.

How do I prepare for an abdomen ultrasound?

If your appointment is in the morning, refrain from eating or drinking after midnight. For afternoon appointments, you may have dry toast, black tea, black coffee, and juice until 9 a.m., but nothing after that.

What is required for a pelvis ultrasound?

You need to have a full bladder. Start drinking 3 cups (24 oz/750 mL) of fluid 1 1/2 hours before your appointment and finish 45 minutes before the appointment time.

What if I have an abdomen and pelvis combined ultrasound?

You must have an empty stomach and a full bladder. Do not eat anything for 12 hours prior, and drink 3 cups of water 45 minutes before the examination.

What are the preparations for a prostate with transrectal ultrasound?

Take a mild laxative the evening before the appointment. Drink 3 cups of water 1 1/2 hours before the appointment and finish 45 minutes prior.

What services do you provide?

We offer a range of cardiac care and diagnostic imaging services, including non-invasive and invasive cardiac diagnostics, comprehensive assessments, and bone mineral densitometry.

What are your business hours?

Our diagnostic testing hours are Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We are closed on Sundays.

How can I refer a patient?

You can refer patients to us with confidence using our requisition form available on our website.

How do I prepare for my ultrasound exam?

Preparation varies by exam type. For abdominal ultrasound, if your appointment is in the morning, avoid eating or drinking after 8 PM the night before. For afternoon appointments, light breakfast is allowed until 9 AM, but no food or drink after that. For pelvic or pregnancy ultrasounds, drink 32 oz (1 liter) of fluids one hour prior and do not use the restroom until after the exam. For prostate exams, drink 32 oz (1 liter) before the appointment and take a mild laxative the night before.

How is a vascular ultrasound exam performed?

A water-based gel is applied to the skin in the area being examined, and a transducer is guided over the skin to visualize blood vessels.

What happens if I’m late for my appointment?

If you arrive late, the technician will try to accommodate you, but if there's not enough time before the next patient, they may have to reschedule your appointment.

How do I book an appointment?

You can walk-in or call (416) 921-1333 to book an appointment. It’s helpful if your doctor faxes your requisition to (416) 921-0444 beforehand.

What happens if I need to reschedule/cancel my appointment?

We understand emergencies may arise, but please try to call our office 24 hours in advance to reschedule or cancel your appointment.

Do I need a requisition/referral to come to Toronto Ultrasound Imaging for my diagnostic imaging tests?

Yes, a requisition/referral signed by your physician is required.

Does my requisition/referral have to be from Toronto Ultrasound Imaging?

No, it can be from any clinic as long as it's ordered and signed by a physician.

How do I get referred to Toronto Ultrasound Imaging?

You can print our requisition form from our website, have it signed by your doctor, and submit it for your tests.

How long will my appointment be?

General ultrasound appointments typically take up to 30 minutes, while vascular ultrasounds may require about 45 minutes.

Does it take long to get an appointment?

No, we are known for being able to see patients on the same day.

Do I have to pay for my Ultrasound?

No, the imaging tests are covered by OHIP. Bring your health card and requisition/referral form. If you don’t have a valid health card, you will need to pay.

How long does it take to get my results sent to my doctor?

Results are automatically sent to your doctor within 2-3 days via fax and also mailed out.
