What are the operating hours of Embrun Medical Imaging?

Our regular hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We close for lunch from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.

Do I need an appointment for imaging services?

Bone Mineral Density scans and ultrasounds are by appointment only. X-Rays accept walk-ins up until 30 minutes before closing.

Can I request a male or female technologist?

Yes, you may request a male or female technologist when booking your appointment, although it may not always be possible depending on availability.

What is the fee for parking and how do I pay?

Parking is free at our Kanata and Limoges locations. At the Nepean location, there is a $4 charge payable by coin or credit card.

Can I bring my children to the appointment?

It is discouraged to bring children to your appointment due to the need for a distraction-free environment.

How long does it take for my doctor to receive the report?

Most reports are sent to your doctor within 1-2 business days, although some specialized tests may take up to 5 business days.

I live in Quebec. Will I have to pay for my test up front?

Yes. Quebec patients are required to pay for their test on the day it is performed.

Does Sclerotherapy hurt?

The fine needle prick feels like a mosquito bite. Occasionally, the solution might sting, and a cramping sensation can occur if a larger vein is treated, but this usually resolves after walking for a few minutes.

Do I need a referral?

While referrals from family doctors are welcome, patients can directly call our clinic at (613) 746-6034 to schedule an appointment or contact us via email.

Do I need my varicose veins for circulation?

No, varicose veins are not functioning properly, and removing them can actually enhance circulation.

Will I need these veins for bypass graft surgery?

No, bypass graft surgery only uses healthy veins, not varicose veins.

Can I just have my spider veins treated?

Yes, spider veins can be treated as long as there aren’t any larger varicose veins affecting them.

What can I do after my treatment?

You can return to regular low-impact activities, but should avoid high-impact activities like jogging and heavy lifting.

How many sessions does it take?

The number of treatments varies per person, and will be estimated during your consultation.

Once adequately treated, veins will not return, though new veins may develop over time due to genetic predisposition.

What can I do if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Conservative measures such as wearing compression socks, elevating the legs, and walking are recommended, as treatments cannot be performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Is it covered by OHIP?

The initial consultation is covered by OHIP. Treatment fees will be determined during the consultation.

What is the difference between Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) injections and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections?

PRF is obtained by drawing a small blood sample from the patient, which is then placed in a specialized centrifuge without the addition of any chemicals. Unlike PRP (platelet-rich plasma), PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) creates a more sophisticated and natural approach to pain relief by forming a fibrin matrix that promotes tissue regeneration.

Can cortisone injections cure my condition?

Cortisone injections can provide significant pain relief and reduce inflammation, but they are not cures for underlying conditions like arthritis. They are intended to alleviate symptoms and improve function.

How often can I get cortisone injections?

The frequency depends on the condition treated; generally, we recommend receiving a cortisone injection only every six months if there's a positive response.

What is an ultrasound?

Ultrasound, or sonography, is a medical diagnostic imaging method that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the internal body structures without exposing patients to ionizing radiation.

What are your business hours?

We are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are closed on Sundays.
