What should I expect during an MRI scan?

During an MRI scan, you will lie on a special table that slides into the machine. It may be noisy, so you will be given earplugs. You must remain still to get clear images.

How long does an MRI take?

An MRI usually takes between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of images required and the area being scanned.

What is the cost of an MRI?

The cost ranges from $399 for a non-contrast MRI to $499 for a contrast MRI scan.

When should I come to the hospital?

You should come to the hospital if you experience vaginal bleeding, leakage of fluid, or if your baby is not moving normally. If you have more than six contractions in an hour and are less than 37 weeks, you should be evaluated. If contractions are less than five minutes apart and painful after 37 weeks, contact the office or head to the hospital.

Where should I go if I'm in labor?

For evaluation, go to the Mercy Hospital main entrance and enter through the Maternity Welcome Center. At Missouri Baptist Hospital, take the Tower D elevators to the third floor and present to labor and delivery. At St. Luke's Hospital, take the elevators to the 5th floor and present to labor and delivery.

How long will I be in the hospital after delivery?

Typically, women are hospitalized for two days after a vaginal birth and four days after a cesarean birth.

Is the ultrasound safe for the baby and I?

A 3D/4D ultrasound uses the same frequency as your doctor uses in a 2D Ultrasound. Ultrasounds have been performed for over 35 years and have no proven side effects when used properly. We strictly adhere to FDA standards.

Do you accept insurance?

Because this is an elective, non-diagnostic ultrasound, we do not accept insurance policies.

What can help me get great pictures?

Schedule your appointment when your baby is most active, consider your diet before the ultrasound, and ensure you stay hydrated.

What is an elective prenatal ultrasound?

An elective prenatal ultrasound provides a bonding experience and realistic images for parents. It complements medical ultrasounds but does not replace them.

When is the best time to come in for my 3D/4D Custom Experience?

We recommend scheduling between your 26th and 34th week of pregnancy for the best images.
