Can you help if I am considering adoption?

Yes, we provide counseling and support for women considering adoption and can assist with pregnancy-related expenses.

What types of ultrasounds are offered?

We offer a range of ultrasounds including complete abdominal, limited abdominal, pelvic, scrotal, carotid Doppler, lower extremity venous, thyroid, and breast ultrasounds.

What is the cost of the ultrasounds?

All of our ultrasound services are offered for free.

What are the operating hours of the lab?

Our operating hours vary by day: Monday 8:30 AM - 3 PM, Tuesday 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM, and Wednesday 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. We are closed on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Where is the lab located?

SCC Ultrasound Lab is situated on the 1st floor of the Health Science Building, room 108, at 160 Success Avenue, Sylva, NC 28779.

How can I know for sure that I'm pregnant?

We offer pregnancy testing verified by a registered nurse and can confirm a viable pregnancy with a limited OB ultrasound.

When can I get an ultrasound?

A limited OB ultrasound can be performed as soon as 6 weeks to 14 weeks after your last menstrual period to confirm a viable pregnancy and determine gestational age.

What information do I need to know if I'm thinking about abortion?

It’s important to make an informed decision. We provide information about abortion procedures, risks, long-term effects, and other options like adoption.

How can you help me if I don't know how to support having a child?

Our client advocates can assist you in finding local agencies and programs for housing, education, job training, child care options, and supplies.

Will anyone find out I came to your center?

Your privacy is a priority. All information shared with us is completely confidential.

We provide a wide range of diagnostic imaging studies including 2D and 3D mammography, breast biopsy, ultrasound, echocardiogram, x-ray, CT Scans, and bone density.

What are your appointment hours?

Our hours vary by location, with most open Monday to Friday between 8:30 AM and 5 PM, and select locations open on Saturdays.

When is the best time to schedule my 3D ultrasound?

The ideal time is between 18 and 32 weeks. Before 24 weeks, more of the baby can be seen, and from 25 to 32 weeks, facial features become clearer. For twins, around 27 weeks is best.

What factors determine image quality?

The baby’s position, amount of amniotic fluid, and tissue between the probe and baby are key factors. Persistent face-down position may affect visibility.

Will you be able to determine the gender of my baby?

Yes, gender determination is possible starting at 16 weeks, although baby’s position may affect accuracy.

Should I make an appointment?

Yes, sessions are by appointment only.

What should I wear for my ultrasound?

A comfortable two-piece outfit is recommended.

Do I need a full bladder?

No, a full bladder is not required, but hydration in the days leading up to the visit is advised.

Can I bring family and friends?

Yes, family and friends are welcome to join the experience!

How much time should I plan for my visit?

Plan for 30 minutes to 1 hour at the office for processing pictures and videos.

What kind of ultrasound machine do you use?

We use the GE Voluson i, a top-of-the-line machine for 3D and 4D imaging.

Is this type of ultrasound safe?

Yes, similar machines are used at medical offices. Hundreds of studies show no harm to mother or baby.

What services do you provide?

We offer free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and options counseling for those facing unplanned pregnancies.

Do you provide abortions?

No, Abiding Hope does not offer abortions nor referrals.
