What is the difference between 2D, 3D, 4D, and HD Live?

2D is a traditional black and white image, useful for gender determination. 3D provides depth perception for clearer facial images, while 4D adds motion to the 3D image, capturing movements like waving or sucking. HD Live enhances images with advanced technology for better depth and skin tones.

When is the best time to have an ultrasound done?

For gender determination, it's best to schedule after 14 weeks. 2D can be done any time between 14 and 36 weeks. The ideal time for 3D/4D is usually between 28-34 weeks.

Can you tell the sex of my baby?

Yes, I can usually indicate the sex accurately by 14 weeks. If I can't confirm, I offer a free follow-up to check again.

Will I always get a beautiful picture of my baby?

Usually, but sometimes external factors may affect image quality. I strive to capture the best images possible, and if we can't get a good view, I will offer to reschedule at no cost.

Is there anything I can do to help get amazing pictures?

Stay hydrated for several days before your appointment and have a light meal before the session to encourage activity from the baby.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, you need to schedule an appointment online or by calling.

Can I bring my family and friends?

Absolutely! Up to four guests can join you during the session.

Does this take the place of an ultrasound at my doctor’s office?

No, this service is for keepsake purposes only and does not replace a medical diagnostic ultrasound.

Are 3D/4D ultrasound sessions covered by my health insurance?

No, these elective ultrasounds are not covered by insurance.

What type of ultrasound equipment is used?

How much do pregnancy services cost?

Each of the locations on our list provides cost-free pregnancy services at their centers.

We do not bill insurance for your service and no proof of insurance is required.

Will my visit be confidential?

Absolutely. We adhere to a strict confidentiality policy. Your information will be kept confidential unless required by law.

A due date or conception calculator can be inaccurate. An ultrasound is recommended to determine gestational age and viability.

Do you provide information on abortion?

Yes, we provide information on abortion options, including the abortion pill and procedures, to help you make an informed decision.

How do I get an appointment at Vermont Open MRI?

To begin scheduling an appointment, you need a signed referral from your provider (doctor, nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant, or chiropractor). Once received, we review your order and verify insurance benefits, usually contacting you within 24-48 hours.

How long will the actual MRI exam take?

Most exams last about 45-60 minutes total, and contrast exams may take an additional 30 minutes.

Is there anything I need to do to prepare for my exam?

Other than specific abdominal and pelvic scans, there are generally no restrictions. You can continue your usual routine before the appointment.

What should I wear to the exam?

You can wear your own clothes unless they contain metal. If they do, we will provide suitable clothing.

Will I be exposed to radiation during my exam?

No, MRI scans do not expose you to radiation.

Yes, our facilities are open on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
