I was very impressed with the level of care provided here. The facility is beautifully designed and offers a relaxing atmosphere which helped ease my anxiety. Only downside was a slight wait time, but overall great service!
Frequently asked questions
help_outline Are screening mammograms important?
Yes, mammograms are crucial as they can detect breast cancer at its earliest stages, potentially saving lives.
help_outline When should I start getting mammograms and how often?
Women should begin yearly screening mammograms at age 40, or earlier if they have a higher risk due to family history.
help_outline When should I stop getting mammograms?
Women should continue undergoing annual mammographic screening as long as they are in good health, especially since the risk increases with age.
help_outline What happens when I get called back from the waiting room?
You will have an individual dressing room provided, where you can secure your belongings and change into a robe for the test.
help_outline What happens during my mammogram? Does it hurt?
Your breasts will be positioned for imaging with compression. The entire exam takes about 15 minutes, and while discomfort can vary, pain is usually not experienced.
help_outline Can I have a mammogram if I have breast implants?
Yes, patients with implants can safely undergo screening mammograms. Inform your technologist about your implants for proper care.
help_outline Should I be doing self-breast exams?
While mammography is the best early detection method, being aware of any changes in your breast is also important.
help_outline What are breast changes that I should be concerned about?
Concerns include lumps, skin changes, discharge, or new nipple inversion—report any noticeable changes to your provider.
help_outline I noticed that my mammogram report mentioned breast density, what does that mean?
Breast density refers to the composition of breast tissue, which affects cancer detection and risk. Women with dense breasts may need supplemental screenings.
help_outline Am I high-risk?
A patient risk assessment is conducted before the mammogram. If the calculated average lifetime risk is 20% or greater, you are considered high-risk.
