Fantastic clinic! The staff are friendly and made us feel so at ease. The 4D scan was absolutely beautiful. Worth every penny!

During my pregnancy, I visited Elzabe Groenewald for a 12-week specialized check. I was quite anxious being a first-time mom, but the moment we arrived, I felt welcomed and at ease. Elzabe took her time during the scans, ensuring a thorough check, even though our little one didn't want to cooperate much at first. We left feeling relaxed and happy, knowing our baby had received excellent care. I highly recommend her for her professionalism and friendly demeanor, along with her detailed explanations throughout the process. It was an incredible experience to see my baby in such depth.
Frequently asked questions
help_outline What will happen in the scan room?
In the examination room, you will be asked to lower your skirt or trousers to your hips and raise your top to your chest. The sonographer will apply ultrasound gel to your abdomen and cover your clothing to protect it. A handheld device called a probe will then be moved over your skin to capture images of the baby using ultrasound waves. You will be able to see a black and white or sepia image on the screen.
help_outline How long will a scan take?
Typically, a scan lasts between 45 minutes to an hour. However, if the baby is in a difficult position, it may take longer or require a repeat scan.
help_outline When will I get the results?
Results can be provided by the sonographer during the scan, provided that all necessary blood tests and views have been completed.
help_outline What can an ultrasound scan be used for?
Ultrasound scans can be used to determine the gestational age, detect multiple pregnancies, identify potential structural abnormalities, assess the risk of chromosomal issues, and monitor the baby's growth and development.
help_outline Should I have a full bladder?
It is preferred that the bladder is empty during the ultrasound scan.
help_outline Should I eat something sweet before the scan?
Yes, consuming something sweet like fruit juice approximately 30 minutes before the scan can help stimulate the baby’s movements for better imaging.
help_outline Can I bring family or friends with me when I have the scan?
Yes, you are encouraged to bring a partner or family member for support, but other family or friends may need to wait outside until the examination is over. Children under 10 years should be supervised in the waiting area.
help_outline If the scan finds there might be a problem, what happens next?
If a potential issue is detected, you will be referred to a specialized unit for further evaluation and management.
help_outline Is it a boy or a girl?
The gender can be reasonably predicted at around 12 weeks with an accuracy of approximately 96%, but confirmation should be done later.
